Are you waiting for the right real estate market... or the right time in your life?
“Should I buy now or wait?”
“Is this a good time to sell?”
I hear those questions often. Interest rates, home prices and the market certainly matter. But after years of helping people buy and sell homes, I’ve learned there may be an even more important question:
What is happening in your life right now?
Most people don’t move because a market report tells them to. They move because life changes.
A growing family needs more room. The kids leave and suddenly there’s too much house. A new job changes the commute. Retirement changes priorities. Maintaining acreage becomes more work than pleasure. Children and grandchildren live too far away. Sometimes a home simply doesn’t fit life the way it once did.
So before asking, “Is this the right market?” try asking:
What would moving change for me? And what would staying mean?
There isn’t one right answer. Sometimes moving makes sense. Sometimes staying exactly where you are does.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be exploring something I call Timing Life: the real-life questions behind some of our biggest real estate decisions.
Because we may never perfectly time the market. But we can pay attention when life tells us it may be time to consider what comes next.
